KR260を購入してUbuntuを動かすまでのメモ

Kria KR260の評価ボード(ROBOTIC START KIT)を購入しました。

 

Zynq UltraScaleが搭載されており、XilinxのハイエンドのFPGAです。

高性能のIF(SLVS-EC、10G SFP+)、4つのEthernet ポートがあります。

ROSやTSNのアプリケーション対応など産業用向けの評価ボードです。

 

個人の趣味用として買いました!(100%遊び目的の評価ボードです。)

Digi-Key購入からUbuntuを動かすところまで紹介していきます。

 

Ultra96-V2も所持しています

同じFPGAシリーズのUltra96-V2の評価ボードも持っていて、色々遊んだりしています。

(Ultra96-V2はコンパクトな分、IFコネクタが限定されています)

今回、KR260の多くのIF(物理的なコネクタ)に惹かれました。

KR260は複数のLANやPmodコネクタ、Raspberry Pi ヘッダーなど多くのIFがあります。

また色々とテスト・ベンチマークしてブログ記事として紹介していきたいと思います。

 

KR260をDigi-Keyで購入

今回はDigi-Keyに在庫がありましたので、Digi-Keyから購入しました。

型番は「SK-KR260-G-ED」です。

特にDigi-Key以外でも、在庫がある電子部品のサイトから購入すれば良いと思います。

 

-ED(encryption disabled)の評価ボードについて

恐らくKR260を購入する際に、どこのサイトでも2種類の型番があると思います。

末尾に「-ED」の有り無しについてです。

また今回のKR260だけでなく、他KV260,ZCU104などのUltrascale評価ボードも同様です。

ED(encryption disabled)は「暗号化無効」の意味です。

「-ED」有りだと不正改造・不正操作防止の機能をONしたbitストリームデータを使えません。

可能ならば「-ED」無しが良かったですが、今回は在庫の関係で「-ED」有りを購入しました。

ただ(今の所は)筆者の趣味・遊びレベルならば、特に影響ないレベルです。

 

アプリケーション(ソフト)側を主に弄る人ならば特に気にしなくてはいいかと思います。

ハードウェア側をがっつり弄る人で初めて影響が出てくるレベルかと。

(コンフィグレーション設定を弄って、かつ暗号化機能を使う人は限られると思いますが…。)

Kria KR260のロボティクス スターター キット

今回購入した評価ボードはロボティックス スターターキットということです。

特に特殊な付属品はついていませんが、直ぐに開発がスタートできるようになっています。

電源、USB、LANケーブルとMicro SDカード(アダプタ付き)が同梱されています。

 

SDカードにUbuntuを書き込まない状態で立ち上げ

まずは付属のSDカードに何も書き込まない状態で立ち上げて、動作を確認してみます。

電源と(Micro)USBだけ接続します。USB経由でシリアル通信しています。

Teraterm+ボーレートを115200などに合わせるとログが確認できます。

 

電源入れるとFANが回り始め、問題なく動作を確認できました。

基板上のROMからブートローダ、U-bootが立ち上がっています。

ただSDカードに何も書き込まれていないので、linux環境が立ち上がらない状態です。

Kria KR260にUbuntuを入れて動作確認

Kria KR260用のUbuntuが、下記公式サイトからダウンロードできます。

UbuntuのイメージファイルをSDに書き込む

Ubuntuの公式サイトからKR260用のイメージファイルをSDカードに書き込みます。

恐らくダウンロードしたファイルは下記のような名前かと思います。

iot-limerick-kria-classic-desktop-***.img

 

イメージファイルのライターを使って書き込みます。

(筆者はbalenaEtcherを使用しています。Xilinx公式も同じでした)

書き込み後はMicroSDをボードに挿し込みます。

 

Ubuntuのスタートアップ手順

Ubuntuを入れてからの手順に関しては、下記Xilinxの手順に従っているだけです。

同様に実施される方は、最初に下記をご参考をお願いします。

有線LANとUSBケーブルを接続します。電源入れるとUbuntuが立ち上がります。

USBからのシリアルからでもスタートアップ作業できます。

(ディスプレイで設定したい方はDisplayPortとUSBマウス・キーボードも追加ということ)

 

初期デフォルトのログインとパスワードは「ubuntu」です。

無事KR260でUbuntuを起動できました。

 

Xilinxの開発環境/デモ環境のセットアップ

スタートアップ時の開発環境のセットアップには結構ダウンロードが入ります。

最初はインターネット接続確認。

Xilinxの環境設定をダウンロードします。

最初にsudoコマンド入れるときは、(デフォルトの)パスワードの変更を求められました。

ダウンロードもそこそこあって、10分ぐらいかかりました

開発環境の初期化。

これも10分ぐらい時間かかりました。必要な箇所はy(es)やEnterを入れて進めていきます。

DisplayPortから画面出して同様に設定できるようだが…

公式によるとスタートアップ時からDisplayPortから画面出して設定も出来るようです。

いきなりGNOMEデスクトップを使えるということ。

(筆者はTeraterm+USBシリアル通信で実施してしまいましたが…)

 

ただ筆者の環境ですと、上手くいきませんでした。

また暇なとき、調査してみたいと思います。

xrandrでディスプレイ情報見に行っても、何もいませんでした。環境が悪いのか?不明です。

KR260の公式アプリケーションの多くは開発中ということ

本当はROSやTSNなどのアプリケーションをUbuntu上で動かそうと考えてました

ただXilinxの公式のアプリケーションが開発中だったので、一旦置いています。

ドキュメントもまだ揃っていない様子です。
